Hi, I'm having trouble installing the ati drivers for my mandriva 2006.0 install.
I have recompiled the kernel and made sure the agpgart for my nVidia chipset is a module and have disabled DRI support.
Also I have set the processor to athlon/duron K7
After trying many different versions of the driver, I am currently trying the plf package.
Here for your info are the messages.......
[root@GlennsPref /]# cd /usr/src/RPM/RPMS/i586/ati
[root@GlennsPref ati]# urpmi *.rpm
The following packages have to be removed for others to be upgraded:
ati-devel-8.24.8-1mdk.i586 (due to unsatisfied ati == 8.24.8-1mdk) (y/N) y
To satisfy dependencies, the following 4 packages are going to be installed (28 MB):
ati-xorg-8.24.8-0.1.20060plf.i586
ati-xorg-devel-8.24.8-0.1.20060plf.i586
dkms-2.0.5.9-3mdk.noarch
dkms-ati-8.24.8-0.1.20060plf.i586
Is this OK? (Y/n) y

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
How about using the stable kernel?
If you are using cooker or cooker mixed with the stable (even worse than using only cooker) you should prepare for more problems.
