Yes ad-hoc sets up a point to point link. I'd refer you to your documentation to see if your router supports this...

More correctly what you want is to set up your router in "client" or link mode, but the nomenclature for this varies a lot.

I didn't say that you would be able to find any place where it was explicitly set to do filtering, but rather it sounds like the router is filtering the packets.

Have you tried a HARD reset of the router, where it sets everything back to the factory defaults?

I reset the Linksys to factory defaults & tried the remote x connection in that state, it still didn't work. I searched Linksys' website for "link mode", & found several articles on bridgeing. My Linksys does not support this. I am about to the point of giving up on the wireless & pull a wire to the other room where I use the laptop alot. Thanks
