thinkpad r51 and mdk10, shutdown problems

i dont know if this is mandrake specific, or thinkpad, so ill start here, basically everything is running great, aside from trying to get some extra keys to work and some minor stuff, but every time i shutdown the laptop it goes through its process, and when it says powering down or whatever it says, the screen turns off, and i think the harddrive does as well, but the fan keeps running and the power and battery light stay on, and to get them to turn off, i have to hold the power button, currently im using acpi for power management. any ideas?

you could try using apm.

i tried using apm, and i had the same shutdown problems. could this be laptop specific?

Maybe. Have you tried to configure thinkpad modules?
