The AMD 64 Bit Project Starts Tonight

I start my build tonight. Here it is...

Amd 64 bit 3000 clawhammer
MSI K8NNEO FSR Mobo
1 Gig Twinmos 2x512 sticks
Optorite DVDRW drive
Maxtor 80 Gig 8 Meg Cache
ATI 9600 xt

Gonna mount it all up on MDK10 64 bit edition.

Any suggestions? I want to use this to game with and everything. So transgaming is getting a call after i get it all up and running right. Can someone hook me up with an rpm to install some ati drivers? Or, an exact how to?

Thanks alot peeps. I will keep you all updated. I will never go back to MS. What a POS.

hows that bad boy running?

I have a 64 3200+ and I tried to dual (triple actually) Mandrake 10 64 (adding to XP Home and XP64 beta) and I got the dreaded 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 error.

make sure you download the nvidia nforce 3 drivers, because I'm pretty sure I tried to get a similar setup going, but with a Athlon 64 3400+ and 2x 250GB SATA Maxtor Drives (RAID) The install worked fine, and fast I might add, but the networking and RAID and Audio (i think) didn't work till I downloaded that here . Other then that, have fun.

Oh, and about the DVD-Burning, K3b (which should come with KDE, i think) is a great *nix DVD / CD Burner. If it doesn't work just type:

urpmi k3b

and that should do it for you.
