Task bar config failed in MDK 10
I am a real linux newbie ( just 1 week after 10 years of that other system). I have installed a dual boot on my machine and everything seems to be ok with the exception of the ask bar"I tried to alter its appearance and now the configuration panel will no longer work. I right click on the bar, select config panel and then attempt to make changes to its appearance. There is however no /accept/ or /change/ type button in the window and therefore no changes can be accepted. I have tried to look at the command line but it is a bit much for me at this stage. Any suggestions short of starting over ??

what DE are you using? if it's KDE, go to the kicker panel (the star or K in the lower left corner)->configuration->configure your desktop. look in the left panel of that for "looknfeel". somewhere in there are control to manipulate the task bar configs, etc. i'm not at the linux box right now to be able to tell you exactly where it is, but just search around there. you'll find it.

Thats fixed it
Thanks Otis. I though I had done that before but obviously not because I followed your instructions and set the defaults /apply/ and bingo we are back in business. Thanks again, you guys must have a lot of patience with us newbies.
