Tapping on TouchPad with 2.6 Kernel

I had been running Mandrake 9.x on a laptop which was working fine. Then I upgraded to Mandrake 10 Community and now I am running Mandrake 10 Official Download on my Laptop. Everything is running fine except that When running with the 2. Kernel I cannot tap on the touchpad. If I boot with the 2.4 kernel I can tap with the touchpad, so the problem seems to be with Kernel 2.6. It ssems that the kernel 2.6 insists that the toucpad is a "Universal - any PS2 & USB" mouse while kernel 2.4 reports it as a "PS2 - Standard" mouse. Some please help me to get tapping working with kernek 2.6

Thanks

Have a look here. With that synaptics driver I got my touch pad to work, but I don't run Mandrake on my laptop, so I can't tell you anything about getting it to work there. I had to edit the config files (or better, copie & paste them from a friend who's got the same laptop), but the Readme should help you in your case.

Cheers,
matze
