Question Tape Drive on Mandriva 2006

Hi,
I Need to purchase a new tape drive with at least 500GB native capacity to install on my Mandriva 2006.
I would appreciate any reccomendations on a tape drive make and model.

Thanks for your help !

Randy.

Requirements?
Are you looking for single tape or autoloader, Internal or external, USB, ATAPI or SCSI?

My preferences are either SCSI AIT or DLT drives. However, no experience with either of the latest high capacity version of either types i.e. SAIT or SDLT. In the past DLT reliability has been very good.

Hi,
I am looking for single Tape, preferably internal.
Both SCSI AIT and DLT drives will do but need advice on the make and model.

I was considering the Sony SAITi1300SSEU. But I’m not sure if it is compatible with Mandriva 2006. Do you know of any specific tape drive that is tested on Mandriva 2006.

Thanks

In general any SCSI tape drive will be compatable with linux. The critical item is the SCSI controller. Check Mandriva's hardware compatability list but typically Adaptec is well supported.

I'd rather go for a LTO tape drive.
They're cheaper, faster, allow for higher capacities and it's the standard tape technology as of today.
