System specs/sleep mode

2 quick questions about mandrake (using a KDE environment).

1.) How can I check out my system specs? I mean, like how much free hard drive space and RAM do I currently have? Must I do these thinsg fro the CLI, or is there a GUI equivelant?
2.) How do I put the computer to 'sleep"? (Power saving mode) i.e. shut off the monitor/hard drive stops spinning so I can return and reactivate it without rebooting the whole thing? Thanks much.

1) Kmenu>system>configuration>KDE>information>storage devices (hard drive space)

Kmenu>system>configuration>KDE>information>memory (ram)

2) Kmenu>system>configuration>KDE>power control>power control (power saving)
