Unhappy system not saving mousesettings/RSBAC? (10.1)

Hello all,

I went from Mandrake 9.2 to 10.1. everything looks smooth and nice..
accept for one very annoying thing.

the mouse does not work when i reboot..
so I have to use TAB to login, then use ALT-F2 to start
harddrake...then choose the mouse.

for that session the mouse works fine..but when I reboot
it's dead again.

it seems the settings are not saved.

the only other problem i seem to have is RSBAC warnings when booting,
it complains that it was not initialized. dunno if that has to do with it.

I have a normal PS2 wheel mouse, so I think it's not the mouse itself.

any help is highly appreciated!

thanks,
Bruno

open your xorg.conf file & check the mouse settings. the path is /etc/X11/xorg.conf. use any text editor. look for the section the says "InputDevice". i have a PS2 wheel mouse. here's what mine looks like.........

Quote:
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Mouse1"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "ExplorerPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "6 7"
EndSection
if you're doesn't look the same, edit it as above, then reboot.

Hi Otis,

Thanks for the reply..tried it, but.... it still didnt work.

actually, drakconf put those exact lines in as you quoted. I rebooted,
the mouse was still not working. (I checked the config file again, and
the lines were still there.)

i will see if i can find something odd in the log files that might give
me a hint.

(Or did anyone else have this problem b4?)

I am having the same problems in Mandrake 10.1 using kde

My time setting reverts back to the wrong time.
Have no mouse after reboot and mouse setting changes wont save after reboot.
Firewall settings won't save after boot sometimes.
Tried editing XF86Config but settings dont work after reboot.
Screen refresh rate change wont save after boot.

When I boot in I have to shortcut to a console and get the mouse working (mousedrake), then I have to change the time, then I have to change my refresh rate, everytime I boot up.

Also, I cannot get ANY bittorrent GUI to work in this mandrake version 10.1.n nor can I get my ATI card to run OpenGL stuff.

Everything worked in Mandrake 10 but my NForce stuff wouldnt work so I had to upgrade to 10.1.

Why is this Mandrake 10.1 so damn buggy?????
It isn't a beta.....
WTF..........................#@%$$@%$#@$

i'm ha

ving the same mouse problem it is set to the correct mouse and using harddrake and setting it to the same mouse as already selected makes it work.

Like is isnt starting the device at boot.
anyone know what symlink needs to be made for a ps2 mouse??
link /etc/rc.d/init.d/Network /etc/rc.d/rc5.d/S10network
allows the network to start and all other hardware have a similar statement whats a PS/2 mouse link required?

the open GL is
nothing to do with Mandrake 10.1 directly

basically you need to download the OPENGL ATI drivers installer from the ATI website. You would have needed them for Mandrake10.0 9.2 etc initially anyways.
even windows needs them for opengl support.
