super user, mandrake 9.2

Can some one tell me if mandrake 9.2 has the "file manager super user" in the menu, and if not, where is it. Its one of the things that is keeping me from updating from 9.1. Thanks for any help.

IIRC, I don't think that it did, but you can just add it to the menu/desktop/etc...."kdesu kfmclient openProfile filemanager"

You could drag the normal menu-item to the task bar, press properties, select the run as different user option and enter root as the user.

yeah, it's there, but they just don't add it to kicker by default for some reason. to run konqueror as superuser, open a terminal, su to root, then type............

konqueror

hit enter.

you could also do that as normal user, but you'd have to type............

kdesu konqueror

hit enter

it will then ask you for a password for superuser mode.

to add a shortcut to kicker, do the following.............

right click on the kicker "K"
choose "menu editor"
navigate to "applications"->"file tools" (actually, you could put this any where you want it, but it makes the most sense here, to me.)
click "add application"
in "title" give it a name (Konqueror Super User, perhaps? )
for "command" type kdesu konqueror
choose an icon if ya like
click "save"
you may have to restart KDE for the settings to take effect

That's somewhat broken. This works:

kdesu "konqueror --profile filemanagement"

The quotes must be included in the command. It even allows you to double-click on root text files to edit them with a root instance of kwrite.

Thanks everyone for the help, thank you otish1000c , that was an excellent tutorial that walked me right through, I have 9.2 loaded on a laptop and am trying to find all the "hidden" stuff before loading it on my main computer. I have been using 9.1 for about 2 years now and am really comfortable with it but would like to upgrade to 9.2 to get some new and improved stuff. In your alls opinion, is 9.2 as stable and a better O S than 9.1. Also does anyone know why 9.2 won't shut down the laptop automatically? It goes all the way to "halting system" and then just hangs there, and I have to turn it off manually, I didn't know if it was a 9.2 bug or a dell laptop bug. Anyway thanks for all your help, I really appreciate it.
