When you bootup in the text mode you enter your username and password
then you type
startx

If your desktop does not come up there is a bug.

I loaded 2007.0 64 bit on a 64 bit machine and this happened to me.

I cannot figure out why this 2007 64 bit is so flakey I have had to go back to
Mandrake 10.1

The 2007.0 32 bit version does run OK on the 64 bit machine however.
