Its a fresh install of Mandriva One KDE 2007.1 and I'm really happy with it. The Mandriva OO is very compatible with MS docs.
But I don't know why...the fonts look a bit weird. In Ubuntu, the same document looked so smooth and readable but in Mandriva 2007.1 the letters look packed together and slightly jagged. The MS doc I'm viewing has Times new Roman fonts as MAndriva OO says.
If you are dual booting Windows and Mandriva, you can import your Windows fonts in MCC
You can also check that you have all the appropriate fonts installed. The bitstream and x11-font-adobe packages may help
You can search for the font packages in the Software Installer. Enter "font" in the text entry field near the top of the window, and click the search button

I no longer use Windows at all, but could benefit from some better fonts on my system. How can I install new fonts to OOo on Mandriva? (I am particulary interested in installing fonts one typically sees on websites.)
To get a good list of font packages that are available for installation, enter font in the search box near the top of the window. The search criteria defaults to in names. Do not change it for this search.
You can install additional fonts using the Mandriva Package Manager.
Thanks. I think I've installed them all, but am wondering how to install fonts such as Times New Roman, Arial, Helevetica to use with OOo. Is this possible?
