Still having a mandrake/firefox/java related problem

Do the drop down menu's work for you? I can't seem to get an answer on this and I am considering reworking my menu's for linux/firefox compatibility, but before doing that I want to know if it's just me or if there is a problem.

Okay, I got it working, I went to dslreports, they have a bandwidth tester that uses java. It worked great.

However, my site has java drop down menu's that do not work. At my site there is a banner on the top and then a menu bar with about us, our pictures, our videos, and links when the mouse goes over one of these headings the menu contents are supposed to automatically drop down. When using internet explorer on my windows system they work flawlessly, when using mozilla, firefox, or konquer on my linux partition it doesn't work at all. I used seltco menu creator to create the drop down menus. It asked if I wanted to export the java script file and saved them as roettgermenu.js and roettgermenu2.js

The code to call these menu's is

<DIV STYLE="width:235; height:34; position:absolute; left:0; top:60; z-index:1;">
<SCRIPT SRC="RoettgerMenu.js">

want I am wondering is do I need to add code for firefox?

I probably need to ask the firefox forum, but thought that it may be a simple fix.

I read something about needing the jsse scripts from sun. I downloaded them but don't know where to put them. In the plugins or extensions or what?

I could use a little help

Hi, I read your other post about dropdown menus and as you know from my previous post i have java working on both Mozilla and Firefox. I went to your site and the dropdown menus didn't work for me. e.g the about us tab was just a tab that you could click on, no drop down box.

Maybe it's a compatability issue that you need to address when you make your menus up, as in test it with firefox or mozilla. I don't 'pretent to know how to do this, I'm just letting you know that it wouldn't work for me either.

well, I am giving up on the auto drop down feature, I will simply make an expandable menu. The guys at mozilla said my code was all wrong for firefox and that firefox did not have native support for it, that I had to "trick" it and that seemed as complicated as simply creating a new Flash menu.

Anyway, thanks for trying to help me get this figured out.

umm.... useful fact...

those menus are done in javascript, not java (actually completely different things)

the problem in a case like this is either your browser or the code itself

depending on how the code was made, it might only work in internet explorer (they did some bull with internet explorer, plenty of things that aren't standard and such)

anyway, I recommend updating to the latest version of your browser, and if it doesn't work then, you need to get different scripts
