Startup Programs

Hi
Is there a way to limit how many programs load during boot? There seems to be an awful lot of software included with Mandrake and takes a long time to boot. I only use one browser, one email program, one shell etc so is there a way to stop the unused ones loading and speeding things up a bit. I don't want to delete them permanently, just disable them.

Cheers
Paul

All software startup scripts are in /etc/init.d/* and they are soft linked using the runlevel links in dirs /etc/rcX.d. For example if your runlevel is five then remove the links (using rm) from /etc/rc5.d for unwanted startup scripts.

OR use KDE's ksysv tool

I think you can also do this from Mandrake Control Center (in GUI)
