Splash screen - What??
 

How do I install a splash screen? These instructions I got from www.kde-look.org aren't clear to me.
How to install a splash screen

# Open konqueror
# Create the directory ~/.kde/share/apps/ksplash/pics
# Browse to ~/.kde/share/apps/ksplash/pics
# Move and uncompress your new splash screen file into the konqueror window
# Have fun! :-)

Where do I create this directory? What does "~" mean?

"~" means your home dir. so for you:
~/.kde

is the same as:
/home/Micro420/.kde

well I did everything that it said to do but I cannot find the last step.

I don't know where in my control center where there is an option for Boot Splash screens. can someone tell me where?

I kinda figured it out.

the splash screen info is located at:

/usr/share/apps/ksplash/pics/

For some reason they have to have a specific file name or else they won't work. That means I can't get my jumping penguins to work for now. :(

Are you mixing up the boot splash screen (http://www.bootsplash.org/) and the Kde startup splash screen (between login and working desktop)?
Are you using Mandrake9.x ?

Cant you just rename the pic?

I guess I was referring to the KDE splash screen, not the boot splash. But it's all good now because I figured it out.
