Sound Blaster Audio PCI164V no sound

Hey Guys,

I have installed mandrake 10.0 and I am not getting any sound at all. I have read that most sound cards may not be compatable with Linux. I have a Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audio PCI164V Audio card that came built into the mother board of my Gateway PC. Does anyone have any experience in finding the correct drivers to make my sound work on my pc.

It says the Bus Identification is: 1274:1371:8086:5753

Any suggestions?

I was searching for some info before buying a card and have read this. Some cards that are in Dell, possibly Gateway too, do not use the 'real' sound blaster chipset. I have read where people have trouble getting it to work.

If this is not built in but a seperate card, in a PCI slot, you may want to move to another slot. I read where someone did that and it worked fine. Suspected IRQ problems, not sure.
