hi there everyone..
i've installed mandriva 2006 free edition not long time ago..
while installing, some errors jumped on my screen:
vorbis-tool-1.1.1-1mdk.i586
xdialog-2.1.1-2mdk.i586
xlockmore-5.19-2mdk.i586
perl-db_file-1.811-1mdk.i586
rosegarden4-1.0-5mdk.i586
what does it means, and how do i repair it?
and another question: i've downloaded amule to my linux os, and i cannot install it...the softwere that i've downloaded ends with tar.gz
how do i install it, after the fact this error jumped:
somthing about amle-2.0.0rc6-1.i586 libwx_base-2.4.so.0
wxbase_2.4
what does it means? and how do i install it properly?
thanks for any replay...

To install stuff in Mandriva first goto http://easyurpmi.zarb.org and setup access to the software repositories. Then use menu->System->Configuration->Packaging->Install Software to install whatever you want from packages (I just checked there is a package for amule).
You would only install something using the .tar.gz file (which is just a compressed file which usually contains the source code of the program) if there was no package for it. Building from source code can be a bit tricky and time consuming, see http://wiki.linuxquestions.org/wiki/...Source_by_Hand
acutally, i already tried to deal with this site, and i didn't really got somthing: wtf is this site want from me?
i couldn't understand it...could someone give me a hand over here?
thanks for the one who do...
There are 3 steps - just follow the instructions, they're written in plain English. Or if English isn't your native language see the top-right corner and select the language you prefer.
After reading and going through the steps (step one - select your computer's architecture, and what version of Mandriva you are using. step two - select mirrors that are close to you for all six repositories) you will come to step three. It will display a box with some console commands and simple instructions, similar to this:
if it looks "frozen" press the enter key to see if one of the commands needs it to proceed. I noticed that whenever I've done this, that the last repository needs the enter key to be pressed in order for it to go through, but the others go automatically.
thanks my friend..
could someone help me with that:
i've downloaded superkaramba-0.37.tar.gz and i can't proceed to the make
command...at the configure command, it tells me a lot of "no"..
what can i do to install that? i really like this program
for many programs you don't need to install it with source tarballs. All you need to do is open a console and su to root and type "urpmi [packagename]". Example:
urpmi superkaramba
will download and install it. Then all you have to do is set it up!
thanks a lot dude...it helped me a lot!!
but my lsat question is, (as a super newib)
how do i display the superkaramba themes?
i don't know where to find it

ok... i'm asking that to all the users in this forum... how do i install icons that i've downloaded fro kde-look.org? in the instruction, it's written that: Open the KDE-Menu and start the Control Center Click on "Look and Feel" and "Icons" Browse to the location of the new icon theme by clicking the small folder button Click on "Install New Theme" to add the new icons Click "Apply" Have fun! :-) but it tells me that it isn't an icon theme.. what can i do?
and by the way, can someone please explaine me about xmule? how do i connect, even thought that my server list is empty, and after filling him, why isn't it connect anyway?
