Slow OOo launch in Mandriva SE

I have tried SuSe, Knoppix, Ubuntu, Mepis and Mandriva LE. Of the bunch I like Mandriva best with one exception. It takes more than 2 minutes for OOo to launch. Once launched it's fast opening but the launch is extremely frustrating.
The thing I like about the other distros over Mandriva is that OOo does launch quickly.
I tried increasing the memory setting in OOo and reducing the size of the pspfontcache file and it had no effect.
I'd even be happy to load the launcher into memory when I boot. I have 768 Mb of RAM so that's not the issue.
I'm thinking something like the MS Office preloader thing that Winders uses (although my removing that hasn't even appreciably slowed MS Office apps from opening). I just don't want have to have an open blank document in my sys tray all the time as people share my computer, they will certainly close an open blank doc and then I'm back to waiting two minutes when I need it.
That's my thought but a) I need a little guidance to do such a thing if possible and and b) more knowledgeable Mandreva Geeks might simple know what to do to fix it so OOo opens as fast in Mandriva as it does in Mepis.

Please, try to make things clear. OOo = Open Office???? What is the last "o"?? I will supose that you are talking about open office

I have Mandriva LE, 512MB RAM and OpenOffice. Open Office 1.1.4 loads a small text document in 10 seconds and Open Office 2.0 Beta does that in 5 seconds.

Try installing the new Open Office 2.0 Beta.

Search Linux Questions and Google for stuff like: "starting a program at startup" or something similar

Try "OpenOffice.org Quickstarter is a small application that runs in the KDE SystemTray. It is used to quickly start the different OpenOffice.org modules without having to go through the K-Menu. Instead of just starting of applications, you can also select multiple files in the usual opendialog provided by KDE to open them in OpenOffice.org, use a history of recently opened files, configure the app to do one of the above described functions on a simple double click, and use the app to keep a hidden instance of OpenOffice.org in memory to achieve much shorter startup times of the OpenOffice.org modules."

Takes somewhere around 5 seconds to open pretty much anything running OO1.1.3

The general convention when abbreviating OpenOffice.org is to use the letter 'o' as it is displayed in the name, hence OOo.
