Slow FTP Logins
 

Im using Mandrake 9.2 installed proftp and when I try and login from a windows machine from internet explorer it sits forever and then eventually gets a login. Try and login it takes for ever. its on my local network. If I use WS FTP its instant conenct and seems to have timeout on how long it takes a file to upload.

Try another FTP client (perhaps the command line one on Windows using a DOS prompt) and see if its slow. Over the years anytime I've used IE to access FTP sites it always froze or was extremely slow to connect, no matter what site it was. I think this sounds like an Internet Explorer problem.

okay I will try and see how it does. Actually I have Firefox. I'l test that too and maybe can confirm IE problem.
