SIS 771/671 PCIE VGA display adapter problem in mandriva 2009 spring

Hi guys,

I have Zyrex Cruiser 616 laptop and it has SiS 771/671 PCIE VGA graphic chipset on it. When I used Mandriva 2009.0, I used SiS 670 / 671-based cards driver module and it worked perfectly.

However, when I upgraded to Mandriva 2009 Spring, I can only use vesa driver. When I tried the very same module I used in Mandriva 2009.0, xserver gave this message:

Code:

An error occurred:
(EE) module ABI major version (2) doesn't match the server's version (5)
(EE) Failed to load module "sisimedia" (module requirement mismatch, 0)

Try to change some parameters

What parameters must I change?

By the way, I tried to use the xorg config file by booting Mandriva One 2009.0 and copied the xorg.conf to /etc/x11/.It failed miserably; it couldn't load xserver.

And I have tried all SiS modules (300 series cards, SiS / XGI 315 / 330 /340 series-based cards, SiS USB video adapters, SiS old series-based cards) and the results were the same:

Code:

An error occurred:
(EE) No devices detected.

Try to change some parameters

Thank you very much.

The sisimedia driver from the 2009.1 CD/DVD does not work, but there is an updated sismedia driver in the mandriva update repos. Just run a system update, the newer sisimedia driver should be found & listed automatically.

Dear Mark,

Thank you very much for your help. I downloaded the package x11-driver-video-sisimedia-0.9.1-1.20090622.1.2mdv2009.1.i586 and installed it with urpmi. It works perfectly now.
