Sharing Printer between Windows and Linux

I have a home network with one Linux machine and a few Windows ones. The printer is connected to the Linux machine. I want to allow the Windows machines to print through the Linux machine. How can I set it up to do that?

I am running Mandrake 9.2

You'll need to use samba. Get it, install it and also get a utility called swat. It's the bomb for setting up samba. Oh and you may need cups as well.

I installed samba and swat from my Mandrake cd's but how do I start swat? One place I saw said to go to the URL http://localhost:901 but that doesn't work.

By default (in debian, anyway) swat gets installed but not run. You have to edit /etc/services and uncomment any lines with the word "swat" in them. Then reboot.

You shouldn't have to reboot...I believe you just have to restart the network. If not the network then you just have to restart some other dameon.

Yeah there's some work around but I don't know what it is. People talk about doing a service <service name> restart but that never works for me.

Same thing. Samba. You export the printer as a share and use samba to pick it up.
