Setting screen refresh rate and size in mandrake failsafe terminal mode.

I installed Mandrake Linux 10.0 on my new computer yesterday (10.03.2005).
While installing i used a BENQ LCD monitor with support for 32bit color, 1024x768 screensize and 75Hz refresh rate. It worked perfectly.

I don't have access to that monitor but a Samsung SyncMaster 15GLe with max: 32bit color, 1024x768 screen and 60Hz rate.

Here's the problem:( :
When I tried to boot Mandrake the screen got mad and turned black.

:study: Question
When i start in failsafe i get the terminal.
How du I set the screen size, color debt and refresh rate in the terminal:confused:

Mandrake MIGHT have come up fully but your monitor cannot handle the refresh rate of your old monitor.

Do this...

Wait until it comes up FULLY... even though you can't see the screen, give it a few minutes to come up.

Then press CTRL-ALT-F1 to get to the text console.

Now log in as root.

Kill the display manager with

service dm stop

Now set up your screen again...

XFdrake

TEST the configuration and be sure you get the rainbow colored screen during the test.

Save the settings...

Now bring up the display manager again, and force a logout with...

service dm start ; exit

Done.

There might be other solutios but I'll try this first.

You do NOT have to change your graphics cards.

Once into XFdrake merely respecify your monitor then test it.

That's all that is needed.
