screen lock behavior

I posted this in the Mandriva Club forum and have received no answer.

I'm running 2007 power pack on a celeron 1.3 GHz box, 786 MB RAM.

The screen is set to remain on at all times, and it does, until I "lock session." Upon recovery from locking, the screen behavior has changed. It goes blank after a few minutes, like a screen saver is on.

I do not have xscreensaver installed, and I have gone to gnome-control-center and kcontrol, both say screensaver/power management and suspend are off.

But after lock/restore something is on.

I ran ps -A >/home/usr/ps1 before locking and made a "ps2" similarly after locking. The only diff is something to do with X and realplayer, which is on 24/7 on Republic Broadcasting Network:

www.rbnlive.com ...the REAL news the mainstream will never touch...

Anyway, at a loss as to why the change in behavior after locking a session. A reboot resets the behavior to "always on" again. The change is absolutely being made by the "lock session" function, but what exactly is going on escapes me.

Thanks for any help in advance.

I had a similar type of problem with Red Hat 9, i. e. the "built-in" screen saver setup did not work right. I solved it by downloading, compiling and manually installing XScreensaver. I then disabled all forms of screen saving in the "stock" facilities in KDE, and exclusively used the XScreensaver I downloaded and installed myself - my problems stopped.

I did not experience the same issue as you did - in my case -no screensaver- displayed when I locked the display - it just stayed black. Maybe if you also donwload and install an Xscreensaver instance manually it might help with your problem?
