Sagem fast 800 E3 Modem

I have a Sagem 800 E3 usb modem and cannot get it to connect to the internet.I am using Mandrake 10.1 and I believe it supports the E2 version of this modem. There is a driver for the E3 modem on the Eagle web site -
dspfast800 E3 tar bz2 but no instructions on how to build install etc.Untaring this file produces three other files.

Very greatful for any help.

Dave

I have succeed with this driver:

http://dev.eagle-usb.org/wakka.php?wiki=EagleUsb200

You'll also find little instructions about installing and connecting, only two tips:

1- You dont need the whole kernel sources as the page says, only the headers.
2- While eagleconfig youll be asked with something like "does your provider use secure authentication?" my connexion is refused if i say yes here.

Hope it helps!

Once I had similar problems and it was because of my compilers version, gcc 3.3 works sure. I have been using this driver for about 6 months in two different distributions: Fedora and Debian and Im very pleased with it, give it a chance (or two).

I have submitted too soon...

You should use the same compiler used to build your kernel, I think...

Thanks again

Thanks again I didn't know what having kernal sources and headers means. How can I get them and where do I install them.
I think I have gcc.But I will try again because my Linux system is not much use without the internet.I keep rebooting to windows.

Thanks
