Now let me start by saving I've never owned a pc connected to ADSL before, so I'm not 100% certain how linux acts deep down (re: ethernet interface?). The little thing works fine in Win98SE, but so far not in Mdk 9.2 PP.
I have found mentions of pppoa and pppoe. Seems the official Sagem driver/in the kernel as Adiusbadsl attempts some form of pppoa but isnt too good and some recommend you recompile the kernel without it and use Eagle drivers and pppoe. That'd be a hastle.
I've tried the drivers suggested by Tiscali, hmm, didnt compile, no help from the readme if anything goes wrong. Found mentions of a patch for installer but wrt using pppoe again.
I've got the latest updates for MCC tools, prior to last night's Mdk10 Official release hammering all mirrors.
Any ideas and also just info from anyone who's gotten this modem working. Just a bit confused about this ethernet interface stuff and pppd&ppp0.
Edit: After more tweaking, and reconnecting the modem usb cable, I've not made much progress. Added some data to /etc/ppp/ secrets files, changed some /etc/analog/ .conf settings for those supposedly for tiscali, and flipped the line related to pppoe and pppoa repeatedly.
Seems that every time, the startadsl script is dying on adictrl -s, because it times out after 60seconds of trying to sync with the modem? I can also have eth0 and ppp0 interfaces mentioned in ifconfig and ifconfig -a.
