running JACK in mdk9.1
'evening all,
I'm having trouble getting JACK, or jackd to be specific to start up on my system. I installed JACK by running "$urpmi jackit" and all went well, but when I try starting jackd from the command line I keep getting messages of this nature: [taiyo@localhost taiyo]$ jackd -d alsa jackd 0.50.0 Copyright 2001-2002 Paul Davis and others. jackd comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY This is free software, and you are welcome to redistribute it under certain conditions; see the file COPYING for details loading driver .. creating alsa driver ... default|1024|2|48000|swmon|rt ALSA: Cannot open PCM device alsa_pcm/default cannot load driver module alsa jack main caught signal 15 The soundcard itself is all working fine - I'm using a SoundBlaster 16PCI (ES1371). There is also onboard sound (VIA 82xx or something) but I'm not using that because it's ubercrap. I'm new to Linux audio hacking, and I'm trying to set up a "virtual studio" with Rosegarden, Ardour and what not so any help is much apriciated... Cheers! |
JACK on Mdk9.1 is broken, at least it was on my machine with SB Live! 5.1. It works fine on Mdk 10 Official Download.

Thanks.
I'm upgrading to mdk10 within the next couple of days, I'll give it another spin then. Cheers! |
