RPMDRAKE mirrors

I am new to Mandriva Linux, having recently installed Mandriva Linux Free on two systems and have a question regarding RPMDRAKE.

When it was run for the first time, I was prompted to select a download mirror for updates. I have not been prompted for this since. In the event that the selected mirror is offline or otherwise not reachable for any reason, does RPMDRAKE automatically prompt the user to select a different mirror? I did not see anything specific to this in its Help document.

Thank you.

I don't believe it does. I've been using it for some time, and the only indication you get is the czlist files don't download.

When that continued for an extended period of time, I used easy urpmi to set up new sites. Here is a link to use Easy Urpmi. Read and follow the instructions.

Mandrake and mandriva always asks if you want to check for updates during install, as if the network is already setup.

It is never setup at that time during install, AFAIK.

But there are a few places you can get your links set up from, here are another couple,

http://www.mandrivauser.de/smarturpmi/ (I haven't tried this one yet)
