rpm dependancy problems
I attempted to install mozilla recently. Downloaded the rpm right clicked on it then scrolled down to 'install software'. I then got a message that a lib file (forgot which one, for now i will call it lib.x) was needed. When I downloaded lib.x.rpm i then got a message saying that i needed another file (i will call it lib.y) and so i downloaded lib.y.rpm. when i attempted to install lib.y.rpm, I was informed that i needed lib.x! So is there a way i can force the install of one so that i can satisfy the dependency of the other?
Best Regards, CHOW

In a terminal as root simply type
or for a graphical installation method, if you are new to linux, you may like this better as you can see all software available
open "configure your computer" in the software menu, and go to the software, install section
Both methods install all dependancies for you.
Also, if you have not already done so, go here: http://www.mandrakeusers.org/easyurpmi/ and follow instructions to add sources, this will make even more software become available via the install methods above.

thanx for the reply.
i used the install software feature instead of the command line (i right clicked on the downloaded rpm and then clicked on 'software install') i assumed this was the same as using a graphical rpm installer. Is there a difference? i will try the cli and get back with you and let you know how it goes.

the RPMDrake graphical software manager is just a GUI front end to urpmi, so if you have your repositories set up, they will be identical.
Of course, the best way to update your repositories is to use the command line, and enter the output from the Easy Urpmi site linked above.
