Restoring original KDE look under MDK 10.1 Community

I am new to Linux, so forgive me my ignorance. I installed MDK 10.1 Community with KDE as primary GUI. I was screwing around with menu and tool bar settings and lost the original look of the start menu. For instance, I can't see OpenOffice entries, Mandrake Software Installer, and some other features. Is there a way to restore original as-installed look using installation CDs? Thanks

If you mean that you've lost some or many of the items that normally appear in the menus do this.

Log in as root and at a console type in

update-menus &

Then wait about 5-8 minutes.

This did not quite work. What I am looking at is the Start menu with all the options like system, internet, utilities, etc. Originally, I had options like LookNFeel, Software Installer, Open Office applications. After I played with some settings, I can't get back to the same menu look. Unless I have an Open Office document, I can't access Open Office from the menu. Any ideas what went wrong?

Thanks.

Go into KDE and enable the extra menu items you want.

You have control over what does and does not appear this way.
