resolv.conf keeps getting rewritten!!
Hi
I need some help. I run Mandriva 2006 and I use a wireless network sometimes and other times a wired network. They are different networks. Every time I change the resolv.conf file to match what I need, it keeps changing back to the default. Please help!! |
There's a command you can put into /etc/rc.inet1.conf which will tell the thing NOT to change the resolv.conf (this is particular to DHCP but might work otherwise too, though I suspect your wireless is DHCP anyways). Try adding this to rc.inet1.conf:
DHCP_KEEPRESOLV="yes" Does it help? :) PS - if for example you have a [2] or a [1] or whatever, indicating the connection affecting the resolv.conf file, then put the same on the line I gave, so: DHCP_KEEPRESOLV[1]="yes" |
there is no /etc/rc.inet1.conf file. any other ideas?
|
Erk!! Try /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf
Sorry :confused: :) Edit: I don't know what it is about the 'rc.d' part -- I seem to omit that more often than not when posting.. |
there is still no /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf. sorry.

Code:
IFNAME="eth0" I hope this helps. Edit - poke around in /etc/sysconfig/<networking_files> |
Actually, I think I found a good solution. My networks do not require DHCP so I disabled VMware services and removed my wireless network card and I deleted all of my interfaces. Then I put my wireless network card back in and I went through the network creation wizard I now I have no problems. I think when I configure VMware and my other network it will do it again so I'll try that.
I'll tell you if it works or doesn't. |
it seems to work.
thank you for your help. |
