Resolution problem

ok, kinda stupid situation here i set the res on my mandrake 9.0 machine to 1280x1024 and logged out to view results and now my monitor is out of range and i cant see a dam thing! Is there a command line i can use or fail safe or something i can use to change it back to 800*600 or something? Bare with me im a newb

rock bottom fix would be to edit /etc/X11/XF86config and change the resolutions there, normally towards the bottom. other than that you could attempt to reconfigure it with xf86config , drakx or a simialr tool

If you are struggling with the above suggestion you could see if your text consoles are still working. Boot up your PC, wait until it 'goes quiet' then press ctrl+alt+F1 With a bit of luck that will take you to a text window at a fairly low res so you should be ok. Login as root and then type mcc that will bring up a text version of the MDK control centre, you can change your settings there.
