Replacing raid controler card
 

I want to replace my raid controler,
from Promise Integrated FastTrak 133 IDE (20276)
to HighPoint HPT374 IDE ATA133

Because Highpoint seems to have the source available to compile a 2.6.x module

I want to pass from MDK9.2 to MDK10.0 and it is not possible with Promise.

Question 1: Since the raid array is made of 64k chumks, could the new controler work without having to reformat all (just replace the controler) or do I have to save all and reformat?

Question 2: Does this Highpoint controler work with MDK 10.0 (kernels 2.6.x)?

OK, seems that raid and linux in general does not go well together (bad support from the raid card makers, not enough customers?)
I learned my lesson: stay with the masses, do not use non-mainstream hardware
