Repeated "input: AT Translated Set 2 keyboard as /class/input/input" messages

Does anyone know what is likely to be causing the following message to be displayed repeatedly (once a second) at the console

input: AT Translated Set 2 keyboard as /class/input/input######

and
PHP Code:
Sep  6 16:23:24 servername kernelinputAT Translated Set 2 keyboard as /class/input/input1648427
Sep  6 16
:23:25 servername kernelinputAT Translated Set 2 keyboard as /class/input/input1648428

Sep  6 16
:23:30 servername kernelinputAT Translated Set 2 keyboard as /class/input/input1648432
Sep  6 16
:23:32 servername kernelinputAT Translated Set 2 keyboard as /class/input/input1648433
Sep  6 16
:23:33 servername kernelinputAT Translated Set 2 keyboard as /class/input/input1648434
Sep  6 16
:23:34 servername kernelinputAT Translated Set 2 keyboard as /class/input/input1648435
Sep  6 16
:23:36 servername kernelinputAT Translated Set 2 keyboard as /class/input/input1648436
in /var/log/messages

Server is a HP Proliant ML150 running Mandriva Linux 2007, and is connected to a PS/2 keyboard and Mouse via a Belkin KVM. What I can find through searching is this often effects Fedora Core and Ubuntu machines when a touchpad is turned on and off, but nothing about repeated messages.

well I do not run a server but I will have a go.

keyboard errors could be a combination of wrong driver in kernel, wrong module booted and wrong xorg.conf file IMHO

2) take a look at your kernel documentation likely to be
/usr/src/linux*/Documentation/input.txt

/etc/X11/xorg.conf for kb driver selected

and as unlikely as it may seem run su command lsmod to see if you have any unusual kb modules loaded.

3) a google of /class/input throws up that udev may also be involved and I have a /etc/udev/rules.d/*-input.rules that mentions kb
but I have no expertise in that area.

so are you running a stock kernel or a compiled kernel> the fault would be easier to solve it was a stock kernel as we could eliminate a bad config?

I'll take a look at that on Monday, although there is currently a keyboard directly attached.

I'm not sure if the Kernal is stock or not - I'm guessing though that Mandriva have customised it as they seem to be doing with everything else.
