remove bad sector form fat?

i am using mandrake 8.2.
i have bad sector on my primary fat partition & i can not format it because after formating it the boot screen for windows xp would be deleted
i wish to known a command using which i can romove this bad sector form hda1
please help.

I don't think that it's normally possible to repair bad sectors on a hard drive, since bad sectors are a physical fault on the disc. Software that acts on bad sectors usually just recovers any data in the bad sectors.
