I currently have a USB 2 drive and I am trying to run it under mandrake 10.1
I log in under my user account and I can see the drive but it will not let me access it unless I am root.
I next log into root and open the files and run the movie that I am trying to watch. I can view it but all of the video (.avi) players seem to be jerky compared to xandros with xine which I recently changed from.
Next I wanted to give permission to the user account, under preferences. When I try to do this it will not let me give permission to the other users. What can I do to change the permission and perhaps increase the quality of the video?
Even though it is a USB 2.0 drive, are you plugging it into an older USB 1.1 port? If your mobo is older, this may be the case. USB 1.1 throughput is not that great...
no, it is a usb 2.0 drive... as I said it worked on xanderos linus a few days ago....I can acess them on the root but it is now jerky under mandrake and I cannot give permission to my user account....
It is a brand new sharp Al-2700 so it is a usb 2.0 mobo
