At our company we use ssh to work on our Mankrake 10.1 server. There one problem that I have not been able to find a solution to. That is how to install packages that are on the cd media. Every time I attempt to install a package I have to go the the servers physical location to insert the cd's. Is there not a way I can install packages from a remote device using the remote devices cdrom drive.
Well, if I understand you correctly, you could telnet/ssh into the remote machine, mount a CD in its CDROM, and then change back you your local filesystem, copy the package over and extract/install it locally?

Or you could have your server use URPMI instead of the media CD's. This way, your server will just connect to the URPMI mirror sources and download/install the programs.
Or, maybe you could go to your Mandrake control Center --> Software --> media and update the path of the media sources. Try doing it by network and see what happens?
