Regular "http" connexion losses

Hello folks, it had been a long time I asked something here :)

I noticed a problem affecting my computer only when I'm running Mandriva Linux, and I'm at a loss as to understand it. No forum or google/yahoo search could hint me.
Can I ask you guys your opinion ?

The summary : sometimes, when this is about opening web pages, my browsers (firefox/opera/konqueror/ie6 with ies4linux) make the loading of webpages wait one full minute, with the simple status bar message they are searching for the domain name of the pages I want to open.

More details :

That won't happen all the time, but that will happen for sure when (1) my computer just finished booting (I have firefox linked in autostart folder and he will open his start page tabs, and then won't be able to load a new page for the next minute) and (2) when I open many tabs together (more than 8-10).

This not a bandwith volume restriction problem, when pages don't load, nothing passes at all. I have a webpage with a login:password asked, and when I ask that page to open during a connexion loss, the login query won't popup until connexion is back for all pages together.

That affects ONLY web pages. If I have an FTP upload/download, or if I have bittorrent running, their traffic won't be halted at all.

This is Mandriva Linux specific.
When my computer is running windows XP there are not those connexion losses. My wife's computer is behind the same router (i'm connected through ethernet and her computer through wi-fi), and her windows XP has no such connexion losses.

I'm running 2007 powerpack, but that also happened in 2006 powerpack and 2007 KDE One.

I don't know if that can be DNS-related, because besides my router is configured to use my ISP's DNS AND another DNS too, and so is configured Mandriva itself.

In the MCC, Internet Settings, > watch network connexions (I have a french version and I freely translated it, that's the second line on the right), in such cases, the usual "disconnect from the ethernet" button has become a "connect to ethernet", as if I had manually disconnected the machine.

I really don't know what's the origin of the problem and how I can solve this.

Would you guys have an idea, maybe ? Thank if you know how to help me, i'll be grateful :)

sounds like the good old ipv6 problem. Try adding these two lines to your /etc/modprobe.conf file
alias ipv6 off
alias net-pf-10 off

I believe that requires a reboot.
Hope that helps.

So that would be linked to Mandriva enabling IPV6 ?

But, errr, wasn't IPV6 supposed to make internet work better, and change the world into a lovely place where noone would be hungry and where birds would sing in the trees under a clear blue sky ?
Well, at least for the internet thing, I'm confident i'm not mistaken ;)

I just enabled this, and after I finish my work, a little reboot, and we will see.
Thank you very much for your help, Gizzer, I'll come back here to tell if it worked :)

Oh, a much-delayed reply, in case it could interest people in my case too.
That half-solved the problem, I still have it sometimes but much less often.

So thanks again ;)
