reformat/boot loader issue

just got a new acer notebook and have an issue. backed up the
system as it came from the store with the acer utility so i could
return it to the original state if need be. then intended to install
mandriva.

backup seems ok, was also able to restore from the hidden partition
before mandrivizing the thing.

put mandriva on via the mandriva one disk to try it out. am no
longer able to reinstall the original setup now, though, from
either the hidden partition or the disk.

i have to use a partedmagic disk to delete the mandriva partitions
and reformat them to fat32. that allows the reinstall to at least get
through the process. when i go to reboot, however, expecting
to come up on the original vista screens, almost immediately
after the reboot i get a grub message:

error 22

presumably that error has to do with there being no linux
on the system any more. sounds like this is now an mbr
problem and a repair of the mbr is needed. not sure how to
go about this. any ideas? please?

thanks,
BabaG

thanks junior. problem here is requirement of an original vista disk.
i, of course, have none, my only vista copies existing in the recovery
partition and dvd's i made from it. i suppose this means i have no
access to the recommended bootrec.exe software.

anybody have a solution that doesn't require an original vista disk?

thanks again,
BabaG
