Yes, I've been trying to migrate over to linux for over 6 months now. My previous version of linux was RH8 before I got my computer upgraded and had to reinstall WindowsXP (repairs failed with new motherboard). Recently I read some very interesting articles about some security flaws in the RH8 kernal, so I've been reluctant to use my RH8 CDs again (publishers edition: Learning RedHat Linux by O'reily).
Anyways, After downloading all three isos and realizing that they have a size that exceeds the space on any CD-R I own (711MB). Even after attempting to burn the CDs on several computers I have been unsuccessful at installing Mandrake.
Mandrake DVD iso
I'm going on the website this afternoon and downloading the DVD iso (the only logical way to fit that amount of data through an appropriate medium).
I really really want to run Linux!
or...
If anybody knows any good websites that discuss making the appropriate boot disk, I wouldn't have a problem placing the .iso files (this will save me 2 days of downloading the DVD) onto a partition and installing from the Hard Drive.
How to install from the Hard Drive?
