RedHat RPMs in Mandrake?

I've been working on compiling KDE 3.2 for a few days and after installing Mandrake on a much better computer and attempting it I've determined that I was taking the correct steps and had the correct software, it's just my Linux machine doesnt have the power (CPU/MEMORY-whatever) to do it. So, I was wondering. If iI were to download all the RedHat RPM installations of KDE 3.2 and use them in Mandrake 9.2, would it work? Or is there some major difference? I know that mandrake is just a hacked up version of redhat intended for easing into linux for us newbies, so I figured it's a possibility. Lemme know, thanks!

The differences will probably cause a few glitches, if not problems. You might want to get the cd ISO for 10.0 beta2 which just came out. It has KDE 3.2 on it. You might have less trouble pulling it off the Mandrake cd than using the Red Hat rpms. OR, you may wanna use the .tar.gz files instead of compiling from source. It should work out fine.

BTW, the 10.0 download site is here

Open your rpm source list

add name: cooker main
add ftp site
ftp://mirrors.secsup.org/pub/linux/m.../Mandrake/RPMS

set hdlist as ../base/hdlist.cz

wait for it to download
then go into software installation and search for kdebase
select kdebase-3.2x
agree to the dependancies and then install
after installation get all kde 3.2 apps you need, then delete sources if you don't want the latest and greatest.

P.S if you want latest and greatest, remember to update sources regularly since packages are regularly being added.
