Reboot Shutdown

For some reason on the main menu were you login, the restart and halt buttons are there but you are not able to click on them to shutdown. Every time I log into mandrake I have to (unfortunately) Just turn off the computer. That Sucks!!! any suggestions????

Thanks

There is a few things you can do, BUT NEVER JUST HIT THE POWER BUTTON! One open a Terminal if you don't know where one is, try this hit CTRL+ALT+F1 then logon with root if you can but you'r user name should work, any was after you loged in type halt or reboot. Halt is to shutdown, and well I think you should know what reboot does

t0ny's way is how I do it

However, I don't know how mandrake sets it up. You could open up (as root of course) kuser if you have KDE installed. Mandrake may have an additional utility that will work. If there is a shutdown group add the user to that group.
