RACER in Mandrake

Looking for other race sim fanatics.

I've enjoyed RACER (found at racer.nl) ever since discovering it on an early SuSE distribution. Not enough posts yet to cite a complete URL. It's at www dot racer dot nl.

I now run RACER version 050f on my Mandrake system. It takes a bit of extra effort, XFree86 compat libs and such to make it work. But work it does and very efficiently compared to the same version running in Win98SE on the same machine.

I thought to try updating that 9.1 with 9.2 but even after doing the NVidia driver install, having downloaded and installed the Mandrake kernel source, RACER wouldn't run.

It now wants something called libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so3. I see libstdc++5-3.3.1-2mdk.i586 is a GNU C++ library but that's where my knowledge ends.

What next? Is there anyone else who might be running RACER in Mandrake 9.2?

The file you're searching for is in the package you can get from here:
ftp://rpmfind.net/linux/Mandrake/9.2...83mdk.i586.rpm

Thanks. Still having problems with 9.2. 9.1 works fine on another drive.

I really appreciate your help.

Thanks, Mara! My 9.2 problems were with the install, primarily the drive configuration. Hard drive on "slave position", both drives on cable select but I forgot that I had swapped the two drives in CMOS.

Installing the libstdc rpm took care of the remaining problems and I now have RACER working in both, 9.1 and 9.2. Eventually, I'll drop 9.1, once I become thoroughly familiar with 9.2.

Your help made the difference! Thank you and Happy New Year!
