Question regarding boot - cdwriting

I'm running Mdk10.0 and when I installed it, it set up several options at boot.

linux-secure (default)
linux
fail-safe
something else I forget here

When I boot into linux-secure, I cannot write CDs, when I boot into linux, I can. What's the difference and how can I change it so I can write CDs from the linux-secure prompt? Should I be looking in the /etc/fstab?

Thanks

you can see the difference by looking at the boot oader configs directly, /etc/lilo.conf or /boot/grub/grub.conf. offhand i'd say the simplest option is passing the ide-scsi option on the normal boot if you're running a 2.4 brnach kernel. but i do remember MDK doing a few screwy things when i used to use it.

acid_kewpie : In MDK it's /boot/grub/menu.lst (as the grub people intended).

bcarl314 : No sure but I think in "secure" you need to be member of a special group
to be able to burn. In my 10.1 there's a "cdwriter" group that looks suspicious.
I think root is able to burn regardless of which entry you boot.
