well i am about as much of a newbie as one can be. i just decided somewhat out of the blue that i wanted to use linux when i got my new computer. it came yesterday and today i downloaded mandrake 9.2 and tried to put it on my pc.
the only other thing i had on there was XP when i first tried.
i burned the 2 discs and poped in the first one and everything seemed to be going well. when i had to make the partitions i just sort of made half for windows and the other half for the linux portion.
well that goes fine and its installing well so when it comes around to the second CD that is when the trouble starts. right off the bat with the second disc it wont load anything. it sayd "there was an error installing packages ......" whatever was meant to load just wouldnt and it would ask me if i wanted to stop or continue on anyways.
i did a bunch of crap to try and fix it and even burned another CD but it kept doind the same thing.
so does anyone know what the problem could be?

did you check the md5sum make sure the download is completed?

I would suggest if the first disk is fine don't touch it but the second I would download it again and burn it after checking its md5sum. Plus I would suggest you get the third disk to mandrake too or if u chose stuff that was to be installed from sisk 3 and you don't have it then you will have to go and reinstall after getting the third disk anyways.
