Problems with CD Drive and reading CD's?
Hello Everyone

I'm having some wierd problems trying to play Audio & MP3's in my Dell 2400 running the awesome Mandriva 2007 Free. Here are the Errors I'm getting.

The KsCD Player is already set to digital playback. Here's the Error I'm getting when I open KsCD:CD-ROM read or access error (or no audio disc in drive). Please make sure you have access permissions to:/dev/cdrom

Also if I click directly on the CD Drive Icon I get this error: Could not mount device. The reported error was:
/dev/hdc: Input/output error mount: block device /dev/hdc is write-protected, mounting read-only /dev/hdc: Input/output error mount: /dev/hdc: can't read superblock

How do I fix these problems? Anybodys help would be very much appreciated.

access permissions to:/dev/cdrom
post after using a command line as root (su to become root)
ls -l /dev/cdrom
ls -l /mnt

and post the content of /etc/fstab

somebody will probably help from there
look in LQ bookmarks for rute, then newbie admin guide,
this is good reading about "access rights"

Do you have multiple drives? If yes, try another one.
