Okay, i've just registered in these forums, cause I really need help.

I download the Mandrake 10.1 DVD, and burned it so i could install it on my laptop.

I boot my laptop with the disk and it all seems to go well, I press Enter for normal installation, and then when its says that is Loading to Memory, or something like that, it suddenly stops and says "Fatal error finishing initialization" and then i cant do anything but press OK and let it reboot.

I thought this could be a damaged iso or something, but then I tried it on my desktop computer and everything seemed to work fine, I didnt finish the installation, coz i dont want Linux on my desktop, but it got through that stage where it crashes when using the laptop.

Is this a known issue, does anyone know how to deal with it?

Already checked the md5sum and its a match.

I had the same problem. The cause was a faulty CD-ROM drive.
