One possibility is that you may have a corrupt rpm database. You can rebuild the database by logging in as root and typing:
rpm --rebuilddb
If that is not the problem then you might try using command line rpm and kpackage to do your installs.
Another thing that you might do is:
rpm -qa | sort > /root/all.rpm.txt
This will give you a complete list of all of your rpms. Check all.rpm.txt to see if rpmdrake has managed to get two versions of the same package installed simultaneously.
