Javad_Ed. Are you able to boot vista? When you installed Mandriva you should have had an option to install the Grub bootloader to either the root directory of the partition you were installing it to or, to the master boot rrecord. If you did not install to the master boot record, it won't work unless you boot an entry in the vista boot files. You might be able to do that with EasyBCD (just google it) or you can try re-installing Grub which will probably be a lot easier. If you choose the latter option you will need to post the output of "fdisk -l" command (without quotes, lower case Letter L, not a one). You need to do this logged in a terminal/konsole as root. Post output here. Just put your Mandriva install CD in the drive, let it load and look for an icon that says terminal/konsole, usually an image of a monitor.

Javad_Ed.

Do you have your Mandriva installation CD or any Live CD? If so, you can put it in the drive let it load, open a terminal/konsole window and enter the command "fdisk -l" as root user, type "su" or "su -", hit the enter key and type fdisk -l, post the output.

If windows is booting automatically, I would expect you did not install the Grub bootloader to the master boot record. If you post the output above, someone will be able to give you correct commands.

I think you have a bigger problem than the Grub bootloader not installing. Look at the output of fdisk -l command in your last post, specifically the line:
Quote:
/dev/sda3 36422 38390 15815992+ af Unknown
I don't know what the "af" means. Usually with a Linux installation, you would have the number "83" there and where you have "Unknown" it would say Linux. Perhaps someone else will view your post who knows what the "af" means but I think there was some problem with the initial install?

so
what can i do ?

See this link for partition ID types. -->http://www.win.tue.nl/~aeb/partition...n_types-1.html

Partition ID=af is a partition type for Shagware, yes it exists. I have no idea how you created this. I have been a long time Mandrake and now Mandriva user. I have never seen this. I would have to say, start your installation over. I would delete the partitions you created, and install Mandriva 2009 to the free space it creates.

As noted above, install Grub to the MBR. You will wind up with a dual boot system, Vista and Mandriva.
