Does Mandriva offer a rescue/bootable CD or DVD that lets you boot from it? If so, you can boot from the rescue CD and then type "fdisk -l" to list your partition data.

Could you do that and list the results here?
The fdisk command must be run as root. Most rescue/bootable disks make the user root automatically.

Whoa! That's a lot of partitions.
It looks odd to me. I'm no expert. Let me repeat that again, I'm just a hobbyist and no expert. So, with that big disclaimer in the way, this is what it looks like to me.

Your hard drive can have four primary partitions or three primary partitions and a fourth extended partition which can be subdivided into logical partitions. Logical partitions always start at hd_5 or higher - in your case, hda5,hda6,hda7, up to hda10. All logical partitions must be contained in an extended partition.

I'm pretty sure your primary partitions and your logical partitions can have different partition types, like 83 for Linux, and 82 for Linux swap. But it is my understanding that extended partions have their own type.

You have logical partitions but no listed extended partition, and you also have your ninth partition (/dev/hda9) starting at 10957 and ending at 2096. I thought your partitions had to go forward. That is, 10957 to something bigger than 10957.

So either your partitions are messed up OR my understanding of partitioning is poor. Hopefully somebody else can jump in and help!

flutters,
I'm sorry I was not able to help. Maybe you should start a new topic thread to ask for help again, and someone else may jump in with better information.
