Now this is interisting! You installed the driver but it is not found on your system?! Just to double check please run as root
#> updatedb
and again
$> locate fglrx.ko

If you still get no results the driver is not installed, though I dont know how one can run fglrxconfig without installation... Im really confused now.

Allright, so it looks like the driver installation failed, otherwise there would be lots more stuff. So, how exactly did try to install the driver, via rpm or did you also try the *.run file? Have you installed the appropriate kernelsources?

I did it through the .run file. What are kernelsources?

Aaah, here we go - open the Mandriva Control Center, choose Software Installation and the search for "kernel". You should find a package named like "kernel-source-2.6.12-*mdk" according to the kernel youre running. If youre not sure about it, run $> uname -r.

After installing the kernelsources -means the source-code of your kernel- try the ati-driver installation again and it should work.

Im glad I could help :-)

Just for explanation: the ati-driver (and also the ones from nvidia) arent ready for use when you download them. They have to compile against your kernelsources to build the final kernel module. Means. everytime you upgrade your kernel, you have to rebuild your graphics driver.
